Such a lovely photo challenge for June. Having enjoyed a sunshine walk along the Fairy Trail at Galgorm Castle during a plein air painting morning we think that this would be a lovely photo to take inspiration from for painting. To quote Barbara - Go wild with welly colours! Email your painting to Ballymena VisArt or to Maria by replying to either of their emails. Bring out the child in you! Hello all I'm really delighted to see how everyone is keeping in touch and sharing with us your wonderful artwork. Our March and April challenges enabled us to work on a common theme whilst letting those who prefer to work on their own thing do so. Many Artists are now reaching out to keep us all in good spirits whether it's by providing workshops, TV programmes, social media exhibitions etc. Protraits seem to be comng thru as a popular theme. So ... May's Challenge is - Lock Down Portrait. I'm sure many of you enjoyed watching Grayson's Art club on Monday night when his theme was portraits. It was very inspiring. Well worth seeing on Channel 4 catch up if you haven't already done so. You can interpret Locj Down Portrait anyway you like - or if you prefer take inspiration from next weeks Animal theme and paint it instead. Other inspiring prograame to watch is Bob Ross on Tuesdays - a style many of you would enjoy. Grayson's Art Club was broardcast on Channel 4 on Monday 27 April The theme of the first episode was portraits - maybe a member of your family or housemate you're isolating with. Comedian Joe Lycett joins in, with his lockdown portrait. This episode can be viewed on Channel 4 catch up. The next episiode is Monday 4th May 8.00pm Channel 4.

Belfast Zoo Friends In this month's photo challenge is for one of your choice from a collection of photos taken by a local photographer, Amy Hamill, at Belfast Zoo.
Amy has given permission for use of photos to VisArt members. I've given a variety of subjects fo you to choose from and to interpret and paint in a medium of your choice. Upload your masterpiece by the end of April - or whenever suits - We'd like to see them at any time that suits. Click read more to download photo and members interpretations. This month's Challenge is an SAA Photographic Challenge. As our Wednesday meeting was cancelled we would like our members to photograph and email us their challenge painting.. We will exhibit all your entries. I attempted this painting as a pen and wash exercise and found it a real challenge - so many greens! It also felt like 'day before homework due .. and I don't have my homework done. This is when I thought having a challenge or an activity to complete each week or month would be a good way of keeping contact with all our members and a way of using all this time we have on our hands to 'go nowhere'.
